Nuclear Option mod · v0.8.7

MiG-29 Fulcrum

A flyable MiG-29 (9.12) for Nuclear Option, with its own flight model tuned to real-world data, R-27R, R-27T, R-73 and R-60M missiles built from scratch, the GSh-30-1 cannon, droppable fuel tanks, flares and chaff, working canopy and gear doors, and nine liveries.

Flight model

Tuned offline with a Python re-implementation of Nuclear Option's per-part aerodynamics and engine thrust, against published MiG-29 figures.

1,530 km/htop speed at sea level
Mach 2.24top speed at 13 km

  • All-moving stabilators for pitch and differential roll, plus rudders, ailerons and flaps. Every surface moves on the model.
  • RD-33 engines with an altitude thrust curve and afterburner. No thrust vectoring, as on the real 9.12.
  • 3.7 t internal fuel and an 11.5 t empty weight. Lift points are placed for a stable static margin.
  • Breakable airframe: hitboxes come from the base game's part colliders scaled to the MiG, so parts break off and scorch realistically.

Weapons

Four missiles and their launch rails, modelled from scratch to published dimensions, plus the MiG's own cannon. Each wing has three pylons, matching the real aircraft.

  • Inner pylon: R-27R or R-27T on an AKU-470 rail, R-73, R-60M, a PTB-1150 drop tank, or stock stores
  • Middle pylon: R-73 on an APU-73 rail, R-60M on an APU-60 rail, or stock stores
  • Outer pylon: R-73 or R-60M
  • Centreline: a PTB-1500 drop tank under the belly
  • Drop tanks feed their fuel first, as on the real jet, and weigh what they hold. Fire to drop them one at a time or press Ctrl+J to jettison all; the ПТБ caution light tells you when they're dry
  • Flares and chaff fire upward from the MiG's own BVP-30-26M dispensers on the tail booms: 30 of each, plus the radar jammer. Chaff decoys radar missiles best when you beam them
  • Presets: air superiority, long-range CAP, dogfight, strike and ferry loadouts, which AI-flown MiGs also use

Airframe & cockpit

The details that make it feel like a MiG rather than a reskin.

  • Every instrument works: 20 needles, a rolling attitude ball, a turning compass card, a 24-light caution panel, the SPO-15 radar warning receiver and gear lights, all reading the aircraft's real state. Lit at night.
  • Cockpit, modelled from scratch: a turquoise MiG-29 panel with Russian-marked gauges, HUD, side consoles with real 3D switches and knobs, circuit-breaker panels, twin throttles, centre stick, a K-36DM seat with harness, the windscreen bow with three rear-view mirrors that really reflect with the NO Mirrors plugin, and the equipment bay behind the seat. The tactical display is built into the panel as the radar screen.
  • Canopy opens from its rear hinge on the ground and ejects with the seat.
  • Gear doors on the nose and main gear open and close with the gear.
  • Damage display in the cockpit and the map icon are both drawn from the MiG's own outline.
  • Nine liveries: Two-Tone Grey, Desert Tan, Digital Grey, Display Blue, 29+20 Special, Tricolour Digital 741, OVT Splinter 917, White 44 and LII Gromov 84, available to both factions.
  • Four loading screens rendered from the model.

Install

Requires BepInEx 5 and Blueprinter 2.0.1 or newer.

  1. Install BepInEx 5 into your Nuclear Option folder.
  2. Install Blueprinter into BepInEx/plugins.
  3. Download MiG-29 Fulcrum_x.y.z.nobp and MiG29Instruments.dll from the latest release (every version is also kept on the builds branch) and put both in BepInEx/plugins/MiG-29_Fulcrum/. Delete any older versions first. The DLL makes the cockpit instruments work and feeds the drop tanks' fuel.
  4. Start the game. The MiG-29 appears in medium hangars, shelters and revetments on land bases, and in the Encyclopedia.

Troubleshooting

Multiplayer: every player needs the same mod set, and Blueprinter checks this when you join. This is an early release, so please report handling or weapon issues on GitHub Issues, including your controls and your speed and altitude at the time.
